Our Story
Barone’s Famous Italian Restaurant has been serving up legendary flavor since 1945. Founded by four passionate families—the Barones, the Monteleones, the Izzos, and the Arpaias—our restaurant introduced Los Angeles to its very first taste of pizza, and helped shape the city’s Italian-American food scene.
What began as a bold idea and a shared love for great food has grown into a timeless tradition. Today, Barone’s is proudly led by Tom Monteleone, son of the late Frank Monteleone—the last surviving original owner. Tom carries the torch with heart, honoring the past while looking toward the future.
From our iconic rectangular pizza to our time-honored recipes, we blend old-school charm with a fresh, modern twist. Barone’s isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a legacy, a gathering place, and a slice of L.A. history that lives on with every dish we serve.
